On Project 52

// January 19th, 2010 // 5 Comments » // Gadgets, Photography, Raves

A new year.
A new camera.
What else should a girl do?
Make a Project 52.

I got my Canon 1000D on the second day of this year and believe me, I have thought of creating a Project 365.  However, I am busy (as always) so I’ve put the thought aside and focused on other things (ergo, work). After putting much thought, I’ve finally decided to create a Project 52. Less pressure and I get what I want at the same time.  So why the heck did I decide on pushing through with this project?  I realized, this is a very good way to track my progress as I learn more about photography.  I want to see how I will grow in 52 weeks.

Week 1

You can call this my exploration week.  I was fiddling at the buttons on my camera, trying to figure out what settings to use until I came up with a photo of this cute teddy bear.

Week 2

I took my C# (yep, that’s the name of my camera) to the beach!

Week 3?

To be honest, I am still contemplating on what to put for week 3.  Last night, I enjoyed playing with the long exposure function on C# and I managed to take a good picture after several attempts.  However, I am going to UP Manila later so I might see the Oblation again or prolly take a couple of snapshots of the busy streets of Padre Faura.  We’ll see…

A new hobby: Lomography

// November 20th, 2009 // No Comments » // Hobbies

I have recently taken a new hobby. Yup, I was finally drawn by the enticing world of photography. But this is not your typical digital photography. Since digital photography is way too expensive, I thought I’d start off with lomography. Lomo cameras are thousands of pesos cheaper than DSLRs so I gave it a shot.

My first ever camera is a Holga 135BC. It is very light and I can easily load it up with a 35mm slide film (which is readily available in the market, another advantage). The films are cheap and I can just bring my film to be developed or converted to CD. So I could still upload the pictures in Flickr after all!

I am more than excited as to how my first three rolls of film came out. We’ve been waiting since Sunday for the CD! Anyway, I really had fun taking photos. One time, I just tried to walk around the neighborhood and snapped away! I took photos of just about anything, kids playing, flowers, the horizon, my folks, birds, buildings, streets, street signs, Christmas lights, even the Oblation’s butt! I was literally not thinking and just shooting.

I am just a bit worried though because I have no background in photography and the photos could just all turn out really bad. I don’t have any experience or knowledge on composition, too. So we’ll see how the first three rolls turn out. For now, I have an Elite Chrome film loaded in my camera and three rolls of Fuji Sensia waiting to be burned. :)
